West Bend Kettle Kampers
The West Bend Kettle Kampers, of Washington County, is one of the first Wisconsin Campers Association chapters to organize, and held its first meeting on October 29, 1963, receiving its charter on June 20, 1964 at the June Campvention. The Kettle Kampers are family oriented with families ranging from tots to grandparents. Members camp in all types of units from tents to motor homes, and select campgrounds within a 100-mile radius of West Bend. The Kettle Kampers do not camp as a group on holidays.
Planning meetings are held at the Jansen Family Park at the intersection of Hwy B and Schuster Roads in West Bend on the second Monday of every month beginning at 7 PM. A children's Christmas event and an adult party are held each December. The Kettle Kampers usually schedule two campouts each month from May through October, in addition to the two Campventions in June and August. Members are free to attend the campouts of their choice. Members volunteer to host campouts. Potluck on Saturday evening is the norm unless the "host family" plans otherwise. It is up to the host family whether they choose to schedule activities and games. Members enjoy playing cards, swimming, shopping, riding bikes, golfing or just relaxing.
