The West Allis Sunshine Campers chapter of Milwaukee County, was formed and became part of Wisconsin Camper's Association in 1972. The Sunshiners are a group of about fifteen families strong whom share the outdoor experience and camaraderie of camping with good friends. Membership consists of infants to grandparents, sprinkling retirees, snowbirds and some multi-generation families into the mix. The variety of camping units varies from tents to motorhomes with everything in between. Members live in and around Milwaukee and its surrounding area and several northern Illinois communities.

Camping outings are scheduled every two to three weeks, beginning in mid-April and continuing into mid-October. These outings include the WCA Campventions in June and August. The Sunshiners generally camp in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

To provide members with the advance opportunity to join any given outing, campouts are selected during the fall/winter for the following year. Campouts vary from a simple weekend get together to an outing where games and meals are planned for all to participate in and enjoy.

In late fall and winter, the West Allis Sunshiners have a Christmas Party and a winter outing. The chapter also participates in the WCA mid-winter Ball, Bowling Party, and Delegates Dinner. The Sunshiners strive to provide opportunities to keep contact year round and build friendships until the next camping season.

The fall/winter monthly chapter meetings are held at a Milwaukee business and when needed, summer meetings are held during campouts.
