Family Camping - Wisconsin Camper's Association |
The Hartford Y-Knots is the founding chapter of the WCA, beginning in 1959. There are about 40 families in our group right now. Our members include a wide range of individuals, spanning from infants to retirees. The camping accommodations include pop-ups, travel trailers, 5th wheels, and motor homes. We camp the fourth weekend of every month from April through September, and the third weekend in October. We generally camp within a 100-mile radius of Hartford, staying at both private campgrounds and county parks. A "Trailmaster" plans each campout. This family (or families) is responsible for reserving sites at a campground of their choosing. If desired, activities are planned for the kids and adults. There is generally card playing, dominoes, kid’s activities, and the occasional pot luck. And there is always a campfire for everyone to enjoy. During the mid-summer months, several of our members enjoy golfing at near-by courses. The October campout brings out the trick-or-treaters, and there is usually camper decorating and other activities. Coffee and hot chocolate are provided by the club each morning. We hold our general meeting the Saturday of each campout at 1 PM. Our club holds its annual Christmas party during the month of December, as well as our annual Chili Dump during the month of March. Regardless of the location, event, or weather, we always enjoy the camaraderie that our club brings.
Camping to the Hartford Y-Knots is relaxation and fun-filled weekends. You are welcome to attend any of their campouts to see what they are all about.
